Sometimes Networking is Almost Too Time Consuming

When I first started blogging the only real networking I did was within the BlogExplosion network.  Within a very short period of time blog networking and rather extensive networking using a wide range of mediums is the norm.  The premise is the more networking you do the more traffic you will get to your blog.  Well in theory this should work quite nicely if you don't take into consideration of maintaining more than one network.

Let's say for example that you are active in Entrecard, CMFAds and Adgitize as many bloggers are.  That can easily give you a daily time commitment of 2 hours or more depending on your connection speed.  Add in Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Digg, Yahoo groups and perhaps a couple of niche forums then what?  Well the end result is you spend wo much time networking there is little time to do anything else including blogging.  As the time commitment for networking increases blogging itself becomes more work than pleasure.  At this point if you aren't careful it spells the end of a blog as the networking that was supposed to help your blog takes over.  There really is a fine line between social and advertising networking and actual blogging.
