Quality Comments

Like many bloggers I love getting comments on my blogs.  I view comments as being one indicator as to how successful my blogs are.  If someone can take their time and trouble to leave a comment then I am quite appreciative EXCEPT when the comments are blatant spam or lack quality.  So what do I consider a quality comment?  A quality comment:
  • shows the reader actually read the post - I'm sorry but leaving a comment that clearly shows the reader did not read the post doesn't get much interest from me other than perhaps stripping the url.
  • attempts to interact - I love comments where the reader relates directly to the post then asks a question to keep the conversation going.
  • adds to the content - I always appreciate it when a reader adds a little content like a tip or suggestion to the post.
  • is sincere - A quality comment is sincere.  Most bloggers can see right through phoney with many simply treating them as comment spam.
