The copyright mark (©) should be on your blog to help protect your intellectual property. Your posts and images are technically copyright protected from the moment you make them but in this day and age of
cut & paste with many thinking anything they find online is free it is increasing more important to protect your intellectual property. Online content is protected under the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). In order to protect your work register it with a third party source such as
MyFreeCopyright and mark your work. Your copyright mark should appear on:
- the blog as a whole - Place a copyright notice on your blog that encompasses the blog as a whole. It should be readily visible on the main page of your blog and clearly outline your copyright policy. Draw attention to the copyright to remind readers of your copyright policy.
- each blog post - Each blog post should have © your name, date on it as part of your signature.
- each graphic you make - Every image or graphic you have made should have your © name or © blog url on it.
