I have noticed while blog hopping that some bloggers have comment policies in place while others do not. Some are rather detailed policies while others are simple statements like "your comment will be posted after owner approval" on the comment form. Do you need a comment policy?
The short answer to this question is no, a comment policy is not necessary unless your blog is part of a commercial endeavour. So if you are blogging on behalf of a magazine or restaurant or similar than a comment policy would be appropriate. If you are writing paid posts including a comment policy may be part of the TOS for that particular program. If you have a popular blog or a problem with comment spam you may want to spell out your comment policy but really there is no need to.
